LeBron James unveils brand new Space Jam 2 uniform

LeBron James has given Space Jam fans a sneak peek at his brand new uniform, which he’ll be wearing in a sequel to the beloved 90s classic. James is set to star in Space Jam: A New Legacy as a member of the Tune Squad, following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan.

James shared a glimpse of the vibrant Nike-branded uniform in a teaser posted by the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Featuring Looney Tunes’ iconic orange circles and blue lettering, James was also seen wearing leggings, an arm guard and neon trainers.

The brightly coloured uniform is a major contrast to Michael Jordan’s 1997 white uniform, which featured Looney Tunes’ orange circles as well as a blue and orange trim.

Previously, James said to The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that he hoped to inspire children with the new film. He said, “I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams.”

James is said to have completed filming on the set of the new film and in audio released by TMZ Sports, he gave an emotional speech to the cast and crew about his time on the project.

He said, “When I found out about the project, I was like it's 'Space Jam'! It’s a movie that I grew up watching. People in the movie that I idolise. I was like absolutely, I gotta do it. There’s no way I can turn down 'Space Jam'!"

Calling himself “just a small kid from Akron, Ohio”, he continued, "Growing up in the inner city, as an African-American kid, there’s no way you’re supposed to f****** make it out. And, the fact that I’m who I am as an African-American adult now with 3 kids of my own, and I made it out of the situations that I was in. This sh*t is like extra credit for me man."

The sequel to Space Jam is set to be released next summer on July 16, 2021.
