Give LeBron James credit here.
He knows the jokes and stories from over the years about how he’s cheap. And he’s leaning right into them with the news that Twitter will reportedly remove blue checkmarks from accounts and ask users to pay for them in order to get them back.
James tweeted on Friday that “if you know me, I ain’t paying the 5 [dollars].”
And we do know James. This is the same LeBron who Dwyane Wade ripped on for not dealing with data roaming when there’s no WiFi. The same James who didn’t pay for commercial-free Pandora despite the fact that he’s made all the money in his storied career:
Welp guess my blue ✔️ will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5. 🤷🏾♂️

One of the most underrated great moments of covering the 4 straight Finals years was walking into the locker room, listening to music blaring from LeBron's speaker at his locker and hearing commercials play in between because he wouldn't pay to upgrade to commercial-free Pandora https://t.co/iB1QUt9biC
