Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets saw another excellent performance from LeBron James. He scored 40 points, with 17 of them coming in the fourth quarter, while shooting 13-of-17 from the field and an incredible 9-of-10 from 3-point range.
It gave him the most 30-point games in NBA history, as he surpassed none other than Michael Jordan. Most importantly, James’ eruption ensured a 116-104 win by the Lakers, which kept them firmly in ninth place in the Western Conference.
One has to wonder how many of these performances James has left in his 39-year-old body. After Sunday’s game, he was asked how much longer he may keep playing in the NBA, and he was honest.

James has a player option for next season, which he could turn down this summer in order to become a free agent. Although there is always the chance he leaves this offseason, there seems to be a growing feeling that he will re-up with the Lakers.
