LeBron James has been riding with the United States Women’s National soccer team for much of the tournament, but he gave a huge shout out to their leader Megan Rapinoe and the whole squad after they took home the nation’s 4th World Cup trophy with last night’s win over the Netherlands.
James has been supporting the team throughout the competition, most notably when he showed off customized USWNT jerseys for he and his daughter Zhuri.
LeBron James also shares a connection with Rapinoe and Rapinoe’s girlfriend Sue Bird of USA Basketball and Seattle Storm fame, who both collaborate with James and his sports media company, UNINTERRUPTED. Bird has even been wearing UNINTERRUPTED merchandise during pride month.
James has focused on highlighting women more than ever lately with things such as his Harlem Fashion Row LeBron 16s last fall, that were made specifically for women. He’s also outfitted several women’s college basketball teams with custom versions of his signature shoe, such as UCONN and Oregon.
