LeBron James sets new untouchable NBA record whilst matching Michael Jordan feat

LeBron James has spent his entire career being compared to the great Michael Jordan, and showed exactly why on Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers megastar set an unprecedented NBA record - all while matching one of Jordan's greatest feats.

And last night James added more accolades to his storied career, at the age of 38. He became the first ever player to score 40 points against all 30 teams in the league, with the Los Angeles Clippers the only team he had not dropped that many points on.

James also tied a Jordan record, of three-45-point games - the most of all-time - at the age 38. 'The King' is also now just 177 points away from tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time NBA scoring record of 38,387 career points - something he'll be expected to achieve in February.

In the incredible Clippers performance, James also hit a career-high nine three-pointers, proving himself as a threat from deep - just in case anyone needed convincing.

However, all this came in another frustrating loss for the Lakers, as they continue to desperately struggle and look set to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season unless they are to pull off another trade to strengthen the roster.

The Lakers gave up bench scorer Kendrick Nunn and a number of draft picks to trade for former top 10 drafted Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards, who will be expected to come in and add size and shooting to the team.

But Hachimura alone will not be enough to turn the Lakers season around, with the Lakers seemingly destined to shake up their roster in the upcoming summer.

Max-contract star Russell Westbrook has been a disappointment since he arrived in LA, and will almost certainly not be resigned, with his exit opening up cap space to sign an elite player - with potentially Kyrie Irving and Draymond Green available.

James knows he does not have long left in his career, and if he feels the Lakers are failing to add the requisite pieces around him, could look to play his final years elsewhere.
