LeBron James on his very high shooting efficiency this season

LeBron James is just over a month from turning 39 years of age. But on the basketball court, he looks like he isn’t a single day over the age of 28.

After his Los Angeles Lakers’ poor start to the season, he has elevated his play, and he has been the impetus behind them winning five of their last six games and improving to an 8-6 record.

On Sunday, he had 37 points and eight assists. He was clutch in a 105-104 win over the Houston Rockets, but the best part of that performance was he shot an incredible 14-of-19 from the field.

For the season thus far, James is shooting 58.6% overall and 39.7% from 3-point range. By comparison, last season he made an anemic 32.1% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

He told ESPN the reason he’s shooting better is because he has been healthier this season.

Via ESPN:

“I have been able to be on the court a lot more during off days this year because of past injuries the last couple years with my foot or whatever the case may be,” James told ESPN. “So to be able to hone in on everything that I need to do instead of having to get off my foot, unless we’re playing games has allowed me to stay in rhythm.

“I got my bounce back, my spring back, my quick twitch back and things of that nature.”

James has been dealing with a calf contusion he sustained on Nov. 10 in a victory over the Phoenix Suns, and he admitted on Sunday night that he’s been feeling under the weather. Right now, with season averages of 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists a game, he may be a man on fire, despite what his birth certificate may say.
