LeBron James Makes Game 3 Status Clear After Ankle Injury Thursday Night

As the Lakers lost Game 2 to the Nuggets 108–103, LeBron James appeared to finish the game a bit hobbled. The 38 year-old stepped on Anthony Davis’s foot in the fourth quarter, resulting in a twisted ankle for the rest of the contest.

However, James claims he is fine, as he told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin the injury isn’t too serious.

“They’re still there,” he said. “A little ankle isn’t going to stop me.”

Facing the deficit, James told Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes he fully expects to play in Game 3 on Saturday.

“I’ll be ready on Saturday,” he said, “I just stepped on the foot of [Davis]. Nothing is keeping me from playing.”

James had his ankle evaluated after the game, even though he was able to finish Game 3 with the issue. The veteran had a subpar finish to the game, going 0-for-6 from three-point range as Los Angeles fell down 2–0 in the series.

The Lakers return to Los Angeles this weekend trying to get back into the series vs. Denver. Game 3 will be Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
