LeBron James has hand injury, won’t return to NBA All-Star Game

LeBron James came into the 2023 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, Utah, looking to extend his streak of five consecutive victories as a team captain.

James scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and had four assists in the first half, yet his team trailed, 99-92, at intermission.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the other All-Star captain, committed an intentional foul seconds into the game and didn’t return. He has been nursing a sprained right wrist.

Unfortunately, fans will be deprived of both All-Star captains in the second half of the midseason classic. James will not return to the contest due to an injured hand.

It was reported on TNT, the network televising the All-Star game, that James suffered the ailment while hitting his hand on the rim while attempting a dunk.

Earlier on Sunday, he said he wants to play in all 23 of the Los Angeles Lakers’ remaining regular-season games. It remains to be seen if this injury will jeopardize that goal.
