The new-look Lakers got off to a hot start Wednesday night with a blowout win over the Pelicans. After the game, LeBron James commented on how he felt about his team post-trade deadline.
“It’s the first time we all been on the floor together since the trade,” James said after the 120–102 win. “We wanted to kinda see what it kinda looks like. And close to 48 minutes it looks really good.”
He also added, “I thought we did a really good job in the activity bracket on Thursday,” when referring to the trade deadline with a laugh. Three of the players Los Angeles landed at the deadline included D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt. All three were on the floor with James and Anthony Davis for the first time and it appears he likes his new-look squad.

In order to acquire these new pieces, the Lakers dealt away Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, Patrick Beverley and Thomas Bryant. With the All-Star break starting now for Los Angeles, there’s still plenty of time in the year to turn the season around for James’s struggling squad.
The Lakers are currently the No. 13 seed in the Western Conference at 27–32 and won’t return until Feb. 23 against the Warriors.
