LeBron James Explains Significance of Bronny’s Commitment to USC

LeBron James spoke about his son Bronny’s commitment to play college basketball at USC, and he didn’t hide his pride when talking to reporters after the Lakers’ Game 3 win against the Warriors

Speaking to Mike Trudell on the court after the game, James called Saturday “one of the best days of my life,” expressing his joy over his son making his college commitment.

“One of the best days of my life. First of all, Congratulations to Bronny on his decision he made. Super proud of him, our family is proud of him,” said James. For me personally, it’s even more special to me because it’s the first time someone out of my family is going to college. Obviously, I didn’t go to college either...”

“I couldn’t lose today, no matter the outcome of this game, I couldn’t lose today, personally,” James added. “But I’ll take the cherry on top with this W though.”

James, of course, went straight from high school to the NBA back in 2003, when he was the first pick of the NBA draft, selected by the Cavaliers. He was overjoyed to see his son walk a different path, becoming the first member of the James family to attend college.

Bronny announced his commitment to USC via an Instagram post on Saturday evening. He was then in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena for the Lakers’ Game 3 win against Golden State.

LeBron also shared his own Instagram post, in which he left a congratulatory message for Bronny.

Despite not scoring in the first quarter of Saturday’s game, a first in his 275 career postseason appearances, James had 21 points on the evening. The Lakers went on to defeat the Warriors, 117–87, to take a 2–1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals series.
