It may not quite be Magic Johnson versus Larry Bird, but over the last several years, LeBron James versus Stephen Curry has been must-see television. The latest page of their rivalry was written on Saturday, and it was packed with excitement.
The Los Angeles Lakers traded one haymaker after another with the Golden State Warriors, especially down the stretch. In the end, James’ two free throws with 1.2 seconds left in double overtime overcame Curry’s 3-pointer on the previous possession and elevated L.A. to a 145-144 victory.
While Curry led all scorers with 46 points and hit nine treys, James put up 36 points, 20 rebounds and 12 assists. At this late stage of their careers, one has to wonder how many more great battles they have left in them.
James talked about what it was like to go back and forth against Curry in such a scintillating game.

Basketball fans shouldn’t take either player for granted, no matter where they think the two rank among the greatest players of all time. Both will be gone before we know it.
