Lebanese authorities are closely monitoring the border to prevent illegal crossings by Syrian nationals into Lebanon. The country's interior minister, Bassam Mawlawi, stated that strict measures are in place to deter the unauthorized entry of Syrians into Lebanon. While there have not been any significant movements of Syrian migrants towards Lebanon, security agencies remain vigilant and have deployed additional reinforcements.
Mawlawi emphasized that only individuals with legal residency in Lebanon or those who can demonstrate that they are transiting through the country are permitted to enter. He also confirmed that no security personnel affiliated with the former Syrian regime have crossed into Lebanon.
The interior minister highlighted that illegal border crossings are effectively sealed and under the control of the Lebanese army. Any Syrian national facing active prosecution will be denied entry into Lebanon.
