Lebanon Temporarily Closes Airspace Due To Regional Developments

Israeli military participates in a drill near Israel's border with Lebanon in northern Israel

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on Saturday that the country's airspace will be temporarily closed to all incoming, departing, and transiting aircraft due to recent regional developments. This decision, effective from 1 a.m. local time until 7 a.m. Sunday, is being implemented as a precautionary measure.

The closure of Lebanon's airspace will result in the complete cessation of air navigation operations at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport during the specified period. This move aims to ensure the safety and security of air travel in light of the evolving situation in the region.

While the temporary closure may cause disruptions to flight schedules and travel plans, the Ministry emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of passengers and aviation personnel. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.

Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any changes to their flights and to make alternative arrangements if needed. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is working in coordination with relevant agencies to manage the impact of the airspace closure and to maintain the smooth operation of air travel in Lebanon.

As the situation continues to develop, the Ministry will continue to assess the need for any further measures to ensure the safety and security of the country's airspace. The temporary closure serves as a proactive step to address potential risks and to safeguard the interests of all stakeholders involved in aviation operations.
