Lebanon’s army has advised displaced residents from the south of the country to postpone their return home following the commencement of a ceasefire on Wednesday. The army stated that it is in the process of deploying in the south as directed by the Lebanese government in light of the ceasefire.
The Army Command has requested citizens to hold off on returning to frontline villages and towns where Israeli forces have advanced until their withdrawal is finalized in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire terms specify that the only armed groups permitted south of Lebanon’s Litani river are the Lebanese military and UN forces.
On Wednesday morning, displaced residents of southern Lebanon and the Beqaa valley initiated their journey back home, organizing convoys on highways, as reported by the Lebanese state news agency NNA. The army has advised residents to remain vigilant for unexploded weapons and suspicious objects left behind by the Israeli forces.
Israel’s military has also cautioned Lebanese residents displaced by the conflict and evacuation orders against an immediate return to their homes in southern Lebanon.
