Security forces in Lebanon have taken into custody the brother of a gunman who carried out an attack on the US embassy in Lebanon. The State Security Directorate, in conjunction with the Directorate of the Army Intelligence, conducted a rapid operation in Majdal Anjar to apprehend the suspect.
The detainee, who is the sibling of the shooter responsible for the assault on the US Embassy, is currently being interrogated by Lebanese authorities. The arrest took place in Majdal Anjar, a small town located in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border.
The attempted attack occurred in Awkar, northeast of Beirut, on Wednesday morning. According to a Lebanese security source, the gunman appeared to be acting alone during the incident. The assailant sustained injuries and is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital.
