Lebanese Regiment Arrives In Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Celebration

People carry the coffins of Hezbollah members Ali Ftouni and Hussam Ibrahim, who died during Israeli shelling on south Lebanon yesterday, during their funeral in Khirbit Silm, in southern Lebanon

A video from southern Lebanon captured the heartwarming moment when residents of the town of Qlayaa in Marjayoun district welcomed a Lebanese military convoy with jubilation. The footage, geolocated in the Christian majority town, shows residents throwing rice in the air as a gesture of celebration and respect as the convoy passed through the town square. The soldiers driving the vehicles reciprocated the warm welcome by waving to the crowds, creating a scene of unity and joy.

This display of celebration comes in the wake of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, ending over a year of cross-border strikes and a prolonged war that resulted in significant casualties. The ceasefire, which took effect on Wednesday morning, has allowed thousands of Lebanese residents to begin returning to their homes in southern Lebanon.

As part of the ceasefire terms, Israel is required to withdraw all its forces from southern Lebanon, leaving only the Lebanese military and United Nations peacekeeping forces south of the Litani River. In compliance with the agreement, the Lebanese military has already started increasing its presence in the region, ensuring stability and security for the returning residents.
