Microsoft has revealed the next batch of Xbox Game Pass titles set to leave the service before month’s end – play them quick if you haven’t already.
They say all good things come to an end, and it’s true. In this instance, the sentiment applies to the handful of titles set to leave Xbox Game Pass before the end of this month, which is no doubt required to make way for a glut of exciting new additions later down the line. Xbox’s premiere game subscription service has had quite an exciting week with the arrival of Ghostwire: Tokyo and now Minecraft Legends, but alas these five games will soon be saying farewell.
Easily the most precious title to be leaving Xbox Game Pass this month is Tetris Effect: Connected, the modernised reworking of the classic puzzle game that arrived on consoles with a beautiful co-op mode. Across 30-plus stages, players are transported into another world assisted by synth music and absolutely stunning visuals, making more out of the Tetris format than simply trying to drop blocks in the correct place and clear lines. Tetris Effect: Connected launched straight into Xbox Game Pass in November 2020, so it’s sad to see Microsoft letting it leave.
Another loss that might be hard to take is Bugsnax, the Pokemon Snap-style indie game that has you taking pictures of creatures constructed out of different fruits and vegetables. Its arrival on Xbox Series X|S was surprising because it was one of the few PS5 launch titles available when Sony’s current-gen console was released. It was equally well received when it came to Xbox Game Pass, though, due to its quirky humour and that catchy theme song. It’s the kind of off-kilter indie you’d expect to see from the developers who also gave us Octodad, but it seemed to garner more traction.
