Leatherface, one of horror cinema’s most iconic killers, will remain part of Dead By Daylight’s active roster.
Several weeks back, the well-known Twitter account DBDLeaks tweeted about Leatherface potentially being removed from Dead By Daylight. There wasn’t any context beyond that, causing many within the community to assume Leatherface was getting the axe over licensing issues. More specifically, due to the character’s appearance in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game that’s coming out later this year.
However, Dead By Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive told Bloody Disgusting that Leatherface isn’t going anywhere.
“I am glad to share with you that [Leatherface] is indeed staying a part of the Dead by Daylight experience,” Behaviour Interactive’s spokesperson said. “He’s hooked on us! See you in The Fog!”
The official Dead By Daylight Twitter account also confirmed that Leatherface is sticking around.

In fairness to those worried about Leatherface’s fate, there is a precedent for characters getting removed. Back in 2021, all Stranger Things DLC content was taken out of Dead By Daylight, seemingly because of licensing issues.
Dead By Daylight creative director Dave Richard spoke with GLHF all about the challenges of adding licensed killers. The most recent example is Resident Evil‘s second chapter, which added several characters from that franchise.
