Leandro Trossard voices frustrations on Arsenal's title challenge ahead of Newcastle clash

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard has made it no secret of his regret regarding his side's Premier League title challenge.

The north Londoners had led the league for the majority of the season, sitting eight points clear at the top of the pile just over a month ago. But a run of four games without a win coincided with Manchester City's blistering form, leaving Mikel Arteta's men four points behind their title rivals with just four games remaining for each team.

The Gunners take on Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Sunday afternoon and ahead of kick-off, January signing Trossard has voiced his frustrations regarding recent results. When quizzed on his thought on the title race, the Belgian international told Sky Sports: "We knew [City] would come close and it’s all about us I think.

"Obviously, it’s not in our hands anymore but before it was just looking at ourselves. If we would have won all those games, it would be a different story of course.

"But we gave them that a little bit to come back into the race and obviously now they are ahead of us. When you are competing on the highest level they’re a top side as well, they show it every year.

"But I think it’s down to us to be at this level as well to make it really hard for them as well I think. Like I said, we’ll see."

Arsenal drew 0-0 with Newcastle when the two sides met at the Emirates Stadium back in January whilst the Magpies secured a 2-0 victory the last time the Gunners visited Tyneside.
