Epic has just finished updating Fortnite with the v5.30 patch, and boy, was it a huge one. There are map changes (uh, go check out Tomato Town), and a whole bunch of leaked cosmetics to sift through.
But what everyone has wanted to see for weeks now is the revelation of the Road Trip skin, the legendary skin that you get from completing seven full weeks of challenges in Fortnite. Tomorrow will be the first time it’s available, on week 7, but the skin has leaked early in the game files today.
This is what the skin looks like. As expected, it’s a hooded figure, and it’s called “Enforcer”:
That’s…a pretty badass skin, and even though “Road Trip” may have implied something a bit different, it seems like we’re back in superhero/supervillain territory to some extent.
While the Enforcer skin has been leaked in the game files, that’s not the only place he shows up. He’s also a fixture in the week 8 loading screen, which seems to promise some sort of invasion taking place in Fortnite during that week.
I have been critical of season 5 for there being not all that much happening so far this season, but it appears week 7 is when things get serious with the Tomato Town Temple and now the pending week 8 invasion by…time…warriors? I’m not even sure what to call these Enforcers really, but it seems like they’re here to hunt Drift down and bring him back to…wherever he came from.
The exact “plot” of Fortnite is always a bit hard to figure out, but at least something is happening now, which I can get behind. And I do think this Road Trip skin was worth the wait. I think his back bling might be a riot shield called “Subjugator” but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if that leaked item actually matches up with him or not. There are at least two other skins, Ravage and Cloaked Star, that appear like they might be compatriots of Enforcer, who, if I had to guess, does look like some sort of futuristic time cop from a totalitarian society. Especially if there are multiple copies of him, and this is sort of generic soldier armor rather than being one specific person.
This is all terribly exciting, I have to say. The skin looks great, the future looks interesting, and it seems like we could be actually headed…back to the past, once all this is over. Stay tuned for more information and even more leaks.
