In polarizing election environment, League of Women Voters works to inform Kentucky voters

One-hundred-and-three years after American women won the right to vote, the League of Women Voters continues to encourage everyone to make an informed vote. Dr. Jennifer Jackson is the president of the League of Women Voters of Kentucky – a nonpartisan nonprofit volunteer group with the goal of helping people participate in our democracy.

“And our primary mission is to educate voters and to help people understand how they can participate in government, learn about the issues, and then actually take action by voting.”

The League of Women Voters sponsored the October 16th and 21st gubernatorial debates and is doing the same for Tuesday’s face-off in Lexington. One of the group’s challenges these days is helping people avoid the noise and disinformation of modern campaigns.

“And so that's why the league really likes to point people to reputable information. And that's why we really have these nonpartisan candidate forums that we can really get to the issues.”

The League also offers candidate Q & As and information on voter registration, absentee ballots, and where and when to vote.
