League of Ireland newcomers Kerry FC appoint Billy Dennehy as manager

BIlly Dennehy has been tasked with leading Kerry FC on their maiden League of Ireland voyage.

The Tralee-based outfit are preparing for their first season at First Division level and former title winner Dennehy was confirmed as manager today.

Dennehy, the ex-Shamrock Rovers, Cork City, St Pat’s and Limerick winger, had been the club’s Director of Football and a driving force in the club’s elevation to this level.

“I’m delighted to be named as the manager of the first team for Kerry FC for 2023,” said the Tralee man in a statement.

“This has been a project that I’ve been excited about for a long time and to finally see it coming to fruition is something I’m immensely proud of.”

Dennehy added: “To be named as the manager of Kerry FC is something that means a huge amount to me and my family.

“While I know it’ll be a huge challenge, I’m confident that Kerry FC will be extremely competitive in the 2023 season.”

The League of Ireland newcomers are hoping to unveil some new signings this week as they build towards their opening game against Cobh Ramblers on February 17.
