League of Ireland match hilariously stopped by rogue water sprinkler

The League of Ireland is the greatest league in the world to many, and tonight hilariously reminded fans exactly why as a water sprinkler brought a match to a standstill.

Late in the second-half of UCD's clash with Shelbourne at the UCD Bowl, a rogue sprinkler forced a stoppage of almost ten minutes.

With fans, some seeing the funny side of the unfortunate malfunction, watching on - officials attempted to control the sprinkler on the touchline.

With play stopped, players were taken to the touchline as a wheelbarrow was used to cover up the sprinkler - hilariously leading to another then going off.

Officials did eventually iron out the issue, but not before losing a whopping eight minutes of game time - which were added on at the end of the game.

But neither side could use the lay-off to their advantage as the two teams could only manage a scoreless stalemate.
