Leading Welsh glass manufacturing firm acquired in a multi-million-pound deal

One of the UK’ leading manufacturers of insulated and toughened glass units, Cwmtillery Glass Centre (CGC), has been acquired in a multi-million-pound.

The acquisition, by an undisclosed acquirer, provides an equity exit for the Ebbw Vale-based firm’s owners and husband and wife team Paul and Cerianne Hayward, who have developed long-standing relationships with blue-chip suppliers including Pilkington and Guardian.

The business was founded by managing director, Mr Hayward in 1996 with just a single cutting table, and has since evolved into a £15m-plus revenue firm, employing some 120 staff and operating from a 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility. Supplying the trade, domestic, commercial and new build sectors CGC produces over 21,000 sealed units per week and has consistently enjoyed year-on-year growth.

Gambit Corporate Finance acted as lead advisor to the shareholders of CGC on initiating, negotiating and structuring the transaction. The Gambit team comprised Frank Holmes (partner), Simon Marsden (director) and Nick Gallagher (executive).

Paul and Cerianne Hayward said: “The transaction represents a significant milestone for the business and will enable us to continue our rapid growth trajectory and better serve our expanding customer base. I would like to thank the team at Gambit for their role in sourcing, advising, negotiating and executing the transaction. Their commercial experience and guidance throughout facilitated a seamless transaction, enabling us to secure an optimal outcome.”

Mr Marsden of Gambit said: “Over the last 25 years, Paul, Cerianne and the CGC team have built an exemplary business which has consistently delivered exceptional quality for its customers. It was a privilege to advise on this milestone in the company’s trajectory. The transaction highlights the extensive appetite from acquirers seeking entrepreneurial, resilient UK businesses.
