LBC presenter Eddie Mair is set to retire later this year after being in the industry for 40 years.
The 56-year-old radio host said he "doesn't have time on his side".
Eddie will be stepping down in August - on his four-year anniversary of joining LBC.
He announced the news today, saying: "My only regret about LBC is not joining sooner. I'm having a ball and all things being equal would probably carry on forever.
"They love radio at Global and support it. But the one thing I don't have on my side is time."
Eddie revealed he had a think about what his future holds during the coronavirus lockdown - and decided it's time for him to take a step back from work.
He continued: "Like many others, during Covid I had a rethink about life and in the summer of 2020 told my bosses and close friends and colleagues about my plans to leave.
"I've been at this for 40 years and I want to have a little time for me before I croak."
Eddie says he will continue to listen to the radio channel, but is ready to hand the baton over to someone else instead.
He concluded: "So I will carry on as a devoted LBC listener but pass things on to someone new and I wish them all the best."
Fans have been left gutted by the announcement, after he shared the news on Twitter.
Eddie penned: "Apologies for this. There is a war and a cost of living crisis but here is some blah about me."
He posted an article which said he is set to retire.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "@LBC will struggle to find anyone who can top the quality of @eddiemair."
Another shared: "You'll be missed on my radio. Broadcasting and interviewing legend. Don't be a stranger."
A third added: "Have a happy retirement and thanks for entertaining us all!"
A fourth penned: "What! Genuine pleasure listening to your show. Love your style & wit as a radio presenter."
Tom Cheal, Managing Editor of LBC, said: "Eddie is one of the finest broadcasters of our time and I'd like to thank him for being an integral part of LBC's success.
"During his four years hosting Drivetime, he has built an incredibly powerful connection with our audience, blending razor-sharp journalism with his trademark wit and warmth.
"While the whole LBC team will miss Eddie hugely, we have loved working with him and wish him all the very best for his retirement."
Eddie's career began at the BBC, where he hosted BBC Radio 4's daily news magazine and the Radio 4 Saturday iPM, and NewsPod.
He occasionally presented Newsnight and Any Questions.
He joined LBC radio in 2018 and has been there ever since.
