Lawwell confirms Celtic Tierney return in report

Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell has confirmed Kieran Tierney will return to Parkhead this summer.

At the end of January, manager Brendan Rodgers revealed a deal had been done with the 27-year-old.

And now Lawwell has confirmed the arrangement in the club's interim financial report released on Monday, stating that Celtic “…entered into a pre contract agreement that will see Kieran Tierney return to Celtic in July 2025.”

The Arsenal left-back has found himself out of favour at the Emirates, with boss Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy opting against giving the Scotland star a contract extension.

He will rejoin Celtic as a free agent in the summer, ending a six-year association with the English Premier League giants.

In the interim report, Celtic's club chairman went on to express his disappointment about the lack of January transfer activity, aside from the return of Portuguese winger Jota, with Jeffrey Schlupp arriving on loan from Crystal Palace on deadline day.

Lawwell said: “We invested significantly in the summer transfer window and while we aimed to do more in the recent window, we go into the remainder of the season from a strong position and with confidence.”

He continued: “I wish to extend our gratitude and appreciation to our supporters for the backing of our Club on behalf of the Board. Thanks also must go to our employees, shareholders and commercial partners for their continued support.”
