Lauren Harries removes bandages after suffering 'worst nightmare' during brain surgery

Celebrity Big Brother star Lauren Harries has removed the bandages for the first time following her emergency brain surgery.

Lauren, who featured in the Celebrity Big Brother house in August 2013, underwent her "worst nightmare" whilst having emergency brain surgery, which resulted in the star having her hair shaved off.

As she shared updates with her fans on Twitter during her continued recovery, the star has now removed the bandages as she rests in hospital and undergoes physiotherapy to 'get her strength back' after the ordeal.

Sharing an image of herself with shaved head, Lauren shared a snap from her hospital bed as she laid alongside her mum Katy to her Twitter page.

The tweet told followers: "Lauren is having physio therapy to get her strength back after the operation.

"She is still in hospital but hopefully she will be home soon. It has been such a stressful time but she knows her family are always with her.

"We all love her so much, mother and daughter love is so strong!"

Fans of the star have shared their support for the Celebrity Big Brother star, as one tweeted back: "Get well soon … sending love your way … hope your mum is ok too. Surgery is really exhausting xx".

Another added: "Hope you are feeling better soon babe x".

"Sending healing prayers. Our thoughts are with you," said a third.

A fourth replied: "Sending love and hugs sweetheart hope you are home soon and on the road to recovery xx".

In a previous tweet, it was revealed that Lauren had undergone her "worst nightmare" by having her hair shaved off for the emergency surgery. A previous tweet read: "Lauren has woken up after her brain surgery. They had to shave her hair. As you know this is Lauren's worst nightmare but she would have died if not.

"The amazing staff in the Heath Hospital have been wonderful. Thank you for your kind words, her recovery ahead. Update to follow."

Lauren found fame as a child antiques expert called James, who appeared on the Antiques Roadshow and Wogan, before undergoing gender reassignment surgery in 2001.

After a gap from the spotlight she reemerged as Lauren to star on Channel 5 series Trust Me – I’m A Beauty Therapist and then, in 2013, starred on Celebrity Big Brother on the same channel. She finished third in the competition, with Charlotte Crosby taking the top spot.
