Former celebrity Big Brother star Lauren Harries has been put into an induced coma after undergoing brain surgery.
The Cardiff-born television personality has been in hospital for several weeks after undergoing a procedure in April. She was admitted to hospital after falling ill with a mystery illness. She had to have emergency brain surgery and has been in hospital recovering, but on Monday (June 5), a statement on her official Twitter account said: "Last night Lauren had a seizure and doctors have had to put her into an induced coma to get it under control. Lauren needs all your support and wishes, she loves you all."
Well-wishers were quick to send their support to Lauren and her family. One said: "Sending all my love to Lauren and her family, and praying for a fast full recovery. With all my love and prayers."
Another said: "Keep fighting Lauren."
Before that, the latest update had been on May 27, which said: "Lauren is having physiotherapy to get her strength back after the operation. She is still in hospital but hopefully she will be home soon. It has been such a stressful time but she knows her family are always with her. We all love her so much, mother and daughter love is so strong!"
Lauren, from Rumney, found fame as a child antiques expert called James, who appeared on the Antiques Roadshow and Wogan, before undergoing gender reassignment surgery in 2001.
After a gap from the spotlight she re-emerged as Lauren to star on Channel 5 series Trust Me – I’m A Beauty Therapist and then, in 2013, starred on Celebrity Big Brother on the same channel. She finished third in the competition, with Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby winning the series.
