Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) is facing sharp criticism and mockery online after offering Capitol tours to newly-pardoned January 6 rioters, who many argue are already familiar with the building following their violent breach.

On January 6, 2021, a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results, leading to hundreds of arrests and charges, including sedition and assault on law enforcement.

In his first week back in office, President Donald Trump issued full pardons to approximately 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the riot, sparking public outrage and renewed debates over accountability, The Hill reported.

Standing outside a Washington, D.C., jail on Tuesday, Boebert announced her plan to give Capitol tours to the pardoned rioters, claiming they were wrongfully imprisoned and had already served excessive time.

Her comments drew widespread condemnation and ridicule, with critics pointing out the irony of offering tours to individuals who already trespassed and vandalized the Capitol.

"Girl, they already know their way around," one viral response read.

"[H]aven't they already seen it," another user added.

"Did they not see everything when they stormed it the first time orrrr," an X user commented.
