Laura Woods was left in hysterics after Ally McCoist told England fans to "calm down" after their draw with the USA.
Optimism had grown among the Three Lions faithful after the impressive win against Iran in their World Cup opener. England have performed impressively at major tournaments as of late and the feel good factor, after months of poor form, seemed to return.
Friday night's stalemate, however, has dampened the mood with England unable to breakdown the US in what was a lacklustre performance. It resulted in the team being booed off by sections of the crowd in Qatar, but McCoist believes the reaction has been excessive.
He made his feelings clear with Woods, who chuckled and said "here we go" before the Scot looked to set the record straight. He said on TalkSport : "Let's get a couple of things straight here. They are well within their rights to make their feelings known and shown.
"To counter it, that doesn't help the team or the individuals, but i will absolutely fight for the rights to show their emotions as a football fan. However I think some of the reaction from the media and the fans is a bit over the top. There is no grey area with England.
"We got all the plaudits and credit going after the good performance against Iran and then it just goes bang the opposite. Listen, they're going to qualify. The immediate target will be achieve - everybody calm down. There has to be some degree of balance with the support and the media."

England are in pole position to advance from their group to the knockout stages. Four years ago in Russia the team reached the semi-finals and then last summer made it to the final of Euro 2020. Gareth Southgate, who masterminded both campaigns, was also calm on Friday and questioned whether the jeers at full-time were directed at his players.
He said: "Were we booed off though? I'm not sure if that was aimed at us, I do not know, but look personally I'm really pleased with the application of the players, it was a really tough opponent, they defended incredibly well.
"To be a successful team in a tournament, you have got to show those different faces and I think we did that tonight and I am sure there will be a lot of noise about the performance, but not many teams go through World Cups and get nine points in the group." England's final group game will be against neighbours Wales, who need to win to have any chance of qualifying, with top spot in the group still up for grabs.
