Laura Woods has called for action to be taken against those who confronted Phil Foden and defended the Manchester City star.
Foden was in attendance at the Kell Brook vs Amir Khan fight on Saturday evening, just hours after his team had lost late on to Tottenham.
Footage shared on social media showed the City star being confronted by a group of men as he escaped into an executive box.
His girlfriend, Rebecca Cooke, turns and shouts, “who are you calling a c***?” Before they walk into the private area.
Moments later a woman, who appears to be his mum, Claire, 41, came out to address the group asking “who’s calling him?” Before telling them “f*** off now, you p****”.
The situation then escalates as she pushes one of the men which results in her being punched in the face.
Woods, speaking on TalkSport, has defended Foden claiming the repercussions for the footballer would've been severe had he chosen to defend his family.
She said: "People obviously followed then and antagonised them. As a sister and as a daughter if anyone says anything to my family I find it difficult not to react. You're naturally so protective.
"What is going through their heads to think that is alright.
She also added: "If Foden had reacted and done anything you know what the headlines would've been in the morning. You know it'll be a double page spread.
"I'd like to see the person who punched his mum arrested. I don't know if they know who it is or if that is in motion. I'd love to see that happen because I think that has got to stop. Especially with the camera phones, these things are happening."
Greater Manchester Police are making enquiries into the incident, but have received no report as of yet whilst no arrests have been made.
Foden's club put out a statement on Sunday claiming they were "shocked" by the video that had gone viral.
A Manchester City statement read: “The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused.
"We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil’s family member.
"We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need.”
A spokesman for the AO Manchester Arena said: “We are aware of an altercation that took place at the end of the evening as guests were leaving the arena.
“Venue security were on hand and no one requested medical assistance.”
