Laura Woods delivered the perfect riposte to a sexist comment on Twitter on Thursday night after Sheffield Wednesday's incredible play-off comeback against Peterborough. Trailing 4-0 from the first leg, the Owls had already pulled back three goals when Liam Palmer's scrambled 98th minute equaliser sent the tie into extra time.
Darren Moore's men then found themselves trailing again through Lee Gregory's own goal, only to level the tie eight minutes from time through Callum Paterson. And in the penalty shootout, it was Jack Hunt who sent the Hillsborough faithful into ecstasy as he scored the decisive spot-kick, setting up a Wembley final with Barnsley or Bolton.
With their win, Wednesday essentially sent Twitter into meltdown, with talkSPORT host Woods echoing the thoughts of many as she tweeted "That’s unbelievable." She added three clapping emoji's and the hashtag #SheffieldWednesday.
@utpLz, whose bio simply reads 'Peterborough United', replied with a grotesque comment, writing "s**t." Far from rattled by the vulgar term though, Woods hit back with: "Except it’s you that’s been bent over tonight eh."
The comment found favour with followers of Woods, and even fans on the wrong end of the drama lauded the quip: "I’m a Posh fan and I find that funny," wrote @Dazzzzzzler. Wednesday supporter @stevelongden04 added: "The second best come back from last night absolutely brilliant."

@walford_lee tweeted: "How can you not love Woodsy? This woman is a national treasure," and @matt14UK weighed in with: "@laura_woodsy is just brilliant at what she does. A brilliant broadcaster and slayer of trolls."
Woods, 35, has become as renowned for her shrewd responses to abuse and criticism as she has her accomplished presenting. And given her fanatical support for Arsenal, inevitably Spurs fans are often central to her riles, posting on her Twitter account midway through their horror show at Newcastle last month: “If I speak…”
But the two-time SJA Sports Presenter of the Year could be about to enjoy more TV time, with BT Sport reportedly targeting Woods to lead their Premier League coverage from next season. The broadcaster is set for a revamp and will become TNT Sports having been purchased by Warner Brothers Discovery - and has reportedly held positive talks with her about the possibility of getting involved.
