Laura Whitmore quits Love Island and pays tribute to Caroline Flack

Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore has announced she has quit as the host of the popular ITV reality show.

The Bray presenter has fronted the last three seasons of the hit ITV show. She had initially taken up the role to fill in for Caroline Flack and then continued to present following her tragic death.

In the announcement, which was posted on Instagram, the 37-year-old paid tribute to Caroline who died in February 2020. Laura added that one of the issues that helped her make the decision was having to fly back and forth to South Africa.

She said: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects. I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

Fans quickly took to the comments to thank Laura for her role as presenter with one saying: "Ah no that's sad. But you were great. Best of luck with all your new adventures."

Another added: "You were cracking! My hubby and I will miss your face (and the outfits! ) but the amount of stick you got this year has been horrendous. You think people would learn, I don’t imagine that was easy to be on the other side of. Big love to you lady."
