Love Island host Laura Whitmore sent shockwaves through the showbiz and TV world when she made the surprise announcement that her time on the ITV2 dating show has come to and end.
But the Irish TV star actually dropped a hint that she would be leaving Love Island, days before her departure bombshell dropped.
Laura, 37, opened up about her upcoming hectic work schedule during an appearance on Saturday Kitchen over the weekend after she recently announced that she's going back to her acting roots, having bagged a lead role in West End thriller 2:22: A Ghost Story.
The TV star, who first started presenting Love Island in January 2020, hinted that she would be leaving Love Island during her appearance on the Saturday morning show as she looked forward to the future.
Appearing on Saturday Kitchen, Laura said: "It's nice to be on a show where I can talk to you guys, normally I go into hiding."
Following Lauras's tongue-in-cheek comment, eagle-eyed viewers flocked to point out how the comment hinted at her quitting Love Island for good.
One viewer tweeted: "Is it just me or does it feel like Laura Whitmore just seems DONE with Love Island? She doesn't seem happy when talking about it."
"Laura Whitmore seems more interested in acting! She's defo not about Love Island anymore," another insisted.
"Feels like Laura just told us that she's leaving Love Island," someone else pointed out.
And just two days after her appearance on Saturday Kitchen, Laura announced that her time on Love Island had officially come to and end in a lengthy statement on Instagram.
"Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series," Laura penned.
"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found difficult that cannot be changed - some due to the format, including the flying back and forth along with my new conflicting projects.
"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into three series. I hope I did you proud, Caroline."
Following Laura's Love Island announcement, ITV fans have been guessing who the next person could be to fill her boots, with former Love Island bombshell Maura Higgins and TV presenter Maya Jama both in the running.
