Laura Anderson admits ex Gary Lucy has not yet decided whether to attend the birth of their daughter.
The Love Island star is currently 27 weeks pregnant and says Gary would be “welcome” at the birth.
However, the 34-year-old says that the former Hollyoaks star is currently “in two minds” about what to do.
The pair split earlier this year when Laura decided to relocate back to Scotland, with Gary unable to follow suit because his four children all live in Essex with their mum.
Laura says that her main focus is keeping things civil with her ex, with the pair reportedly feuding after Gary revealed the baby's gender on social media.
In an interview with Notebook, Laura said: “He’s currently in two minds so I’ve asked my mum as well, as you are allowed two birthing partners.
“We have had times of it being civil and then it’s not…
“There are a lot of emotions going around for everyone, so it’s difficult. Being able to be civil from now until the birth and then after is the goal.”
Laura found out she was expecting at the end of last year, two weeks into her pregnancy. While it came as a shock, it wasn't a total surprise as it was planned.
“It was planned and it was both of our decisions," she confirmed. "I always imagined having that traditional family set-up in my thirties.
“It was our first time trying. I called Gary and told him. His reaction was, ‘I told you!’ It was a shock. It took a while to really sink in, but we were happy. It was definitely a positive thing.”
Despite the obvious challenges she’s facing, Laura is also relishing the positives.
She’s also had an overwhelming number of other single mums reach out to her offering words of support and sharing their own stories.
“All the information you can give me, great,” she said. “Not that I’ll listen to all of it, but I enjoy learning and I think that’s all you can do to prepare for labour and having a baby – educate yourself as much as you can.
“I hope my community of single mums will grow, because I’ve definitely seen a difference in my followers. And it’s really nice how supportive women have been.
“Some people don’t realise how difficult it is to be an expecting mum in the public eye.
“Going through a break-up is hard and then I’m thinking, ‘Oh, I don’t want to stress the baby.’ But it does give you strength as well, because it put things into perspective.”
