Scots Love Island contestant Laura Anderson has announced that she has split up with her boyfriend Dane Bowers.
The couple began dating in 2018 and she relocated to Dubai to join him before they recently announced that they had started fertility treatment to try and start a family. However, today, Laura took to Instagram to tell her 1.4m followers that the couple had split up.
In a statement, Laura posted that the pair had gone their separate ways and that she plans to move back to the UK. She said: "Just to let all my beautiful support on here know that unfortunately Dane and I have decided to separate.
"Thank you for all your continued support. Sadly we're just not right for each other but I do wish him nothing but love. I will be moving back to the UK as soon as I can. Roll on the rest of 2022, let's make it count." Dane is a DJ out in the UAE and Laura has continued being an online influencer. The pair recently showed off their bathroom renovation in their plush Dubai villa, where they live with Laura's puppy Buddy.
The news of their split comes as a shock to many as back in May, Laura took to Instagram to tell her followers that the pair wanted to start a family. She said: "So I have a little bit of a different post for you today, story shall I say.
"Some of you might know that Dane and I have been trying to have a baby - and sort of come into a few obstacles. So we've been lucky enough to visit an incredible doctor the past few weeks and today set in motion our fertility plan if you'd like."
She added: "I'm going to be freezing my eggs initially and Dane's taking some medication. We're just super excited." At the end of 2021, Laura told Vicky Pattison on her The Secret To podcast that she didn't want to undergo IVF.
She said: "Dane's like, 'we need to do IVF', and I'm like, 'I don't really want to.' I just never really thought that this would have to happen to me." Speaking about how she's now come to terms with IVF, Laura said: "I was a little apprehensive to share this and initially to do IVF but I feel really lucky to have the opportunity to do this in this day and age.
"It's just incredible what doctors can do and absolute hats off to our doctor and the clinic we've been at." She added: "They've just been amazing and made even this far what should be a really stressful experience, they have made it so enjoyable."
"'So I apologise in advance if I'm a bit crazy this week," she said. "But hopefully you can follow our journey, kind of step by step. I want to share it with you. "I think it'll be good for me to get through it and if anyone out there is doing IVF or freezing their eggs - you know it's great thing to do if you're single - then hopefully we can share experiences together and get each other through it."
Laura first met Dane when she was living in Dubai in 2017, before her stint on the ITV dating show, and the pair had an instant connection. But in the early days of their romance, he was seeing another woman.
"We were dating for six months when I found out he was seeing someone else," she explained. "We weren’t in a relationship at that point, and we never said we were exclusive, but I was disappointed, so I confronted him and ended it."
It was after this Laura signed up for Love Island in 2018 where she met Paul Knops, and the pair were runners up to winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. After things ended with Paul, the ITV dating show star texted Dane for support as the two were close friends until things turned romantic last year.
"I never thought I’d be able to trust Dane again, but I trust him more than anyone I’ve ever been with – even people who haven’t cheated," she said to The Sun. The two got closer as she moved back to Dubai with him.
