Town centre's Christmas tree is so bad it is being sent back

A town centre's Christmas tree has been deemed so bad that the council will be getting a replacement.

St Helens' Christmas tree was called a "laughing stock" after it was put up in Church Square earlier this week. St Helens Council have again come under fire, following similar scenes last year.

In response, a spokesperson for St Helens Borough Council said: "Hello everyone, just to let you know we're not happy with this tree either.

"When the tree is unwrapped it is our first chance to look at it too and this does not meet our standards. We can assure everyone that this tree will be replaced with a new one in the next 24 hours!"

Elf star Will Ferrell 'appeals for room' in Liverpool to take his mum to Eurovision

Will Ferrell has asked for help in finding accommodation for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Hollywood star appeared on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday, November 15 to promote his new film 'Spirited'. However, Zoe also spoke to Will about his 2020 film 'Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga', in which he played Icelandic singer Lars Erickssong.

Zoe asked Will if he planned to attend and he said: “You know my mother really wants me to take her to Eurovision, she’s dying to go and she’s always wanted to go to Liverpool. He added: “But aren’t the hotels all booked now?”

Updates as crashes cause traffic chaos on M62, M58 and M56

There was chaos on the roads this morning, as a number of crashes caused motorway closures and delays.

There was queueing traffic on the M65 eastbound, from J5 A5080 Roby Road (Huyton) to J6 M57 J1 (Tarbock Island), as two lanes were closed following a crash. On the M58 another crash was also reported, with one car spotted with damage due to hitting the barriers.

Police have posted images of the crash on the M62, between junction 5 and junction 6. The photographs show one of the cars was behind the roadside barrier.
