'Laughing out very loud' - Nottingham Forest fans pile in as Derby County give Chris Kirchner takeover nod

Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to the news that Derby County's administrators have named American businessman Chris Kirchner their preferred bidder.

Administration firm Quantuma confirmed the news this morning and it has had a mixed reaction from Forest fans. Some have expressed their happiness for Derby that the club will be saved, while others have been more mocking in their social media posts.

Either way, the general consensus seems to be that, while it is fun to see Derby heading for relegation, nobody wanted to see them liquidated. Below is a look at how some Forest fans have reacted online.

Kevin Woolmer : Look, good for them (them being the supporters). Nobody wanted Derby to go under, at least not footy fans. Those who did, don't expect any sympathy when your own club is in trouble! Delighted nonetheless that they are going to be relegated, laughing out very loud about this! Roll on next season points deduction!

Julie Burrows : He was the only bidder left & at a lower offer, so left with no choice at this stage. Hope he realises he needs to sort out purchasing/leasing Pride Park from Mel Morris. Ha, ha, good luck with that one matey!!

Mel Boulton : Relegation party is still on though

Shelly Hargreaves : The preferred bidder has no allegiance switching from Derby to Preston and back to Derby. It's a business to him not a passion

@DaveTod68955790 : Any one got the energy to go dig up all the #dcfc tweets when Kirchner walked away in December?

@kenkenkenken99 : As an NFFC fan, I think this is wonderful news.

Redone62 : Chris Kirchner sucks, as do Direby Clownty

@philrandall : Here we go! Let the Kirchner Era commence!!
