Latvia will be Ireland’s first opponents in 2023 as Stephen Kenny nails down preparation plans for the opening Euro 20204 qualifier against France.
The friendly game was expected and has been confirmed by the FAI today for Wednesday, March 22 with a 7.45pm kick-off at Aviva Stadium.
The Boys in Green then host beaten World Cup finalists France at the Dublin 4 venue on Monday, March 27 in the first of their crunch Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Ireland have played Latvia on five previous occasions, winning every time.
Four of those were under Jack Charlton while the other - and the most recent - was in Martin O’Neill’s first game as Ireland boss when Ireland won 3-0 in 2013.
Ticket details for both March games will be announced at a later date, although a record 23,000 season tickets have already been sold, according to the FAI.
