Latinos Taking Over Hollywood in 2024: Top Movies to Watch

MIAMI - 2024 is set to be an exceptional one for Latino representation in Hollywood, with numerous high-profile projects featuring prominent actors from this demographic. While figures and studies show the industry's shift towards more inclusive casting is slower than it should, particularly in the case of Latinos, this next year will represent a big improvement compared to 2023.

Jenna Ortega and Anya Taylor Joy have starring roles in big movies in 2024, while Chilean actor Pedro Pascal is gearing up for a remarkable 2024, solidifying his status as one of the most prominent Latino figures in Hollywood.

Peruvian-American actress Isabela Merced is also on the brink of a major breakthrough in 2024. With leading roles in two highly anticipated films, Merced is poised to make a significant impact in the industry.

Pedro Pascal, the action star

Renowned for his diverse roles, Pascal is at the forefront of this exciting cinematic year. He will bring his compelling presence to the screen in "Drive Away Dolls," an action-packed thriller with Latino actors Colman Domingo and Annie Gonzalez.

The film is anticipated to be a standout, with Pedro Pascal's dynamic performance expected to captivate audiences. It opens on February 3.

Additionally, his role in the eagerly awaited sequel "Gladiator 2" is one of the most anticipated performances of the year, promising to add a new layer of depth to the iconic franchise. The movie is set to open on Thanksgiving weekend.

Isabela Merced's big year

Another Latino star set to make significant waves in 2024 is Merced. Her role in "Madame Web" is particularly noteworthy, as it marks a pivotal moment in superhero cinema with a Latina lead character. This film is poised to not only entertain but also inspire a new generation of moviegoers.

Merced also takes a leading role in "Alien Romulus," directed by Fede Alvarez, further showcasing her versatility as an actress in the sci-fi genre.

Anya Taylor-Joy is Furiosa

The Argentinian-American actress, who has captivated audiences with her performances in previous years, continues her streak in the "Furiosa" prequel. This film, set in the "Mad Max" universe, is expected to be a high-octane action spectacle, with Taylor-Joy's portrayal of a younger Furiosa (the adult was interpreted by Charlize Theron) eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike.

Jenna Ortega's double feature

Jenna Ortega joins 2024's starring lineup with her role in "Beetlejuice 2." The sequel to the cult classic is surrounded by excitement, and Jenna Ortega's involvement is a significant draw for audiences looking for a mix of nostalgia and fresh talent.

Before, the audience will see her in "Miller's Girl". Her character is a creative writing student who take things over the line with her teacher, played by Martin Freeman, as he offers her special treatment.

Javier Bardem goes back to animation

The Spanish actor's return in "Dune Part 2" is another highlight of 2024. Javier Bardem's performance in the first film was widely praised, and his presence in the sequel is expected to bring the same level of intensity and depth to the epic science fiction saga.

Bardem also stars in "Spellbound", an animated movie set to be released in 2024, but has not official date yet.
