There's a possible change coming in Ireland's weather and many are wondering whether we could be set for a "Beast from the East" type event.
While temperatures have dropped and Dublin has been hit with rain today they will rise slightly again before the end of the week. From there it's expected to become more unsettled again as the expected Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) event will take place.
But speculation surrounds whether this SSW event, which previously caused the Beast from the East, will lead to such conditions again. While it caused country stopping snow in 2018 it had little to no effect on our weather in 2019.

Long range maps, which can be quite unreliable this far out, show that there is a possibility of snowfall around Sunday March 5. That could be followed by wintry showers throughout the week.
Met Eireann predicts that things will become more unsettled though still settled overall. Their long range monthly forecast says: "Low pressure is expected to develop over mainland Europe, although high pressure located to the northwest of Ireland will nevertheless continue to dominate our weather.
"Conditions may therefore be slightly more changeable, though it will remain quite settled overall. The predominant airflow will be southwesterly. Rainfall is likely to remain below average for the time of year, particularly towards the west of the country. Temperatures are also expected to turn somewhat cooler, falling below average in all areas."
While Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather is also being cautious about predicting what could happen at the beginning of the month. He said: "Longer range weather model trends don’t show any great support for prolonged cold with temperatures up next week. High pressure dominating so largely settled with very little rain. Keeping a close eye on start of March but second round of SSW could see delayed response into March.
"A lot of uncertainty for the start of March with risk of cooler weather returning and some models showing a chance of colder air around March 5 but that is a very long way ahead in weather terms so it’s still wait and see."
