Latest update on Eliot Wolf’s future with Patriots after Jerod Mayo firing

Eliot Wolf is expected to return as the lead personnel executive for the New England Patriots, per The Athletic’s Chad Graff.

The news on Wolf comes after Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced the team’s decision to fire Jerod Mayo as head coach. Some wondered if a potential Mayo firing could lead to the team blowing the entire operation up.

However, the team will move forward with Wolf as the executive vice president of player personnel, and they’ll look to pair him with a new head coach.

Mike Vrabel is the biggest free agent head coach looking for a job opportunity, and his longtime ties with the Patriots should make him an immediate candidate.

As for Wolf, the hope is that he’ll have a better offseason the second time around. The Patriots failed to improve the offensive line, and they’ve received plenty of criticism for passing on Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey in the draft for Ja’Lynn Polk.

This next run could be a make-or-break year for Wolf.
