Latest Premier League odds as bookmakers give their verdict on Leeds United's chances to kick on

Leeds United were not expected to struggle as badly as they did in their second season back in the Premier League. In 20/21, they had secured a ninth place finish in their first season back in the top tier for 16 years.

However, in 21/22, injuries bit hard and Marcelo Bielsa's system appeared flawed as opponents ran through Leeds at will. Instead of following up their ninth place finish with another season in mid table, the Whites were battling around the bottom three throughout the season and Bielsa was sacked at the end of February as the club's board began to feel the real danger of relegation.

In the end, new head coach Jesse Marsch and his team steered clear of the drop on the final day of the season. A win at Brentford came as Burnley lost at home to Newcastle and they were relegated as the Whites climbed out of 18th place.

Now, the bookmakers have tipped the Whites to avoid relegation again in the third season in the division. However, they do not expect it to be by much, as Leeds are the side with the fourth shortest odds when it comes to relegation.

According to Oddschecker, Marsch's side have been given odds of 13/5 to be relegated, which, given their finishing position last season, is the shortest odds of the clubs not to have been promoted from the Championship. Fulham are at 5/4 to go back down, whilst Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are 8/11 and 4/7 respectively.

Curiously, whilst Leeds' relegation odds are shorter than many, they sit a lot higher in the odds for outright winners of the division. It's possible to get Leeds at 750/1 to win the Premier League, which makes them 11th favourites. Everton, Brighton, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brentford are all given longer odds, alongside the three promoted teams. Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to defend their title, with odds of 8/13.
