The Arizona Cardinals, thanks to two consecutive wins and three in their last four games, now find themselves atop the NFC West with a 4-4 record.
In new NFL power rankings for Week 9, the Cardinals rank 14th overall.
Of the Cardinals’ remaining schedule, only two of their opponents ranks above them.
They weathered their tough opening stretch of the season. Now things will lighten up.
Here is where the Cardinals’ upcoming opponents rank in USA TODAY’s latest power rankings:
- Week 9, Chicago Bears: No. 11
- Week 10, New York Jets: No. 27
- Weeks 12 and 14, Seattle Seahawks: No. 22
- Week 13, Minnesota Vikings: No. 5
- Week 15, New England Patriots: No. 26
- Week 16, Carolina Panthers: No. 30
- Week 17, Los Angeles Rams: No. 15
- Week 18, San Francisco 49ers: No. 16
Only the Bears and the Vikings are ahead of them. The Bears are a question mark and the Vikings might be coming back down to Earth after their 5-0 start, which surprised everyone.
If the Cardinals have figured things out, they are in a position to do better than be .500 over the final eight games.
