Latest Manchester United injury news and return dates ahead of Brentford fixture

Manchester United will be going in search of their first victory of the season when they travel to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford on Saturday evening.

The Reds, who won 3-1 on their first-ever visit to this particular corner of west London last season, will be looking to get their first three points of the season on the board and bounce back from last Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Brighton. It was the worst possible start that new manager Erik ten Hag could have wished for and he will be determined to get the first win under his belt as soon as possible.

The Dutchman has not added to his squad since the defeat to the Seagulls, meaning he will not have any new signings to show off to the travelling United faithful. Fortunately, he has a relatively fully-fit squad to choose from, with United only nursing a handful of injury problems ahead of the trip to the capital.

With that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a close look at all the very latest on the United injury front ahead of their second Premier League outing of the campaign.

Victor Lindelof

The centre-back missed last Sunday's season opener with an unspecified injury and will once again be absent for the long trip south. It remains to be seen when he will next be available for selection.

Possible return date: Unknown.

Brandon Williams

Williams, who spent last season on loan at Norwich City, has not played since Ten Hag landed the job at Old Trafford, being left out of the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia with what was described as a 'small issue'.

United have not issued an update on him since and it remains to be seen if he will still be at the club come the end of the transfer window. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are ahead of him in the pecking order.

Possible return date: Unknown.

Facundo Pellistri

Ten Hag has confirmed that the Uruguay international will be absent until at least September because of an ankle injury. The winger was forced off in the closing stages of United's 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in their penultimate pre-season friendly a fortnight ago.

Ten Hag said: "The prognosis is that he will not return before September."

Possible return date: September.

Anthony Martial

After starring in pre-season, Martial was in line to start against Brighton, but he suffered a hamstring injury in the friendly with Atletico a week earlier. It means that he has been sidelined since and will miss out once again this weekend.

Issuing an update at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ten Hag confirmed: "Martial will not be available and Victor Lindelof as well, not for this weekend."

Possible return date: Unknown.
