Manchester United are 15/2 second favourites with Betway to win the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League after being handed a relatively straightforward set of Group-stage fixtures in Friday's draw in Istanbul.
The Reds, winners of the competition under Jose Mourinho in 2017, proved bitterly disappointing when losing out to Seville on penalties in the 2020 final but new boss Erik ten Hag, who has led Ajax to a Champions League semi-final, is likely to see this compeition as a big opportunity to bag a major trophy early in his reign.
United have been drawn in Group E of the 2022/23 Europa League having been drawn the fifth side out of the hat, while early tournament favourites Arsenal are in Group A.
The Reds should have little trouble progressing from Group E, with their trickiest fixtures set to be the home and away games against Spanish side Real Sociedad, who held United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in this competitiion in 2021. United won the away fixture 4-0.
United and Sociedad are joined in Group E by Moldovan Supa Liga champions Sheriff Tiraspol and Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, who are the 150/1 outsiders in Betway's early Europa League outright odds.
With further signings almost certain, United have a squad strong enough to mount a challenge to win the Europa League and fighting for the trophy will be high on Erik ten Hag's agenda this season. Although, it is worth remembering the landscape of this competition can change drastically when teams drop into it from the Champions League.
Arsenal will be very short odds to top Group A after drawing PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and Zurich although Glimt are the team that hammered Roma 6-1 last term and Eindhoven have started the season strongly under Ruud van Nistelrooy despite the disappointing Champions League qualifying loss to Rangers.
