Latest Dubai travel rules for Brits as pre-travel PCR tests axed for vaccinated tourists

Dubai has become one of the latest destinations to axe pre-departure Covid tests for fully vaccinated tourists.

Brits who have completed a full course of their Covid vaccination will no longer be required to take a PCR test before setting off on Dubai holidays, although they will need to show proof of vaccination instead.

Unvaccinated Brits can still visit, but they will be required to show either proof of a PCR test taken within 48 hours before travel, or a medical certificate proving they have recovered from Covid within a month before arrival.

An update on the Emirates airline website notes that all passengers who visit will be required to take a PCR test on arrival and self-isolate until they get a negative result; this applies to any arrivals, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.

It's also worth noting that if you're planning to travel elsewhere in the UAE such as Abu Dhabi, different entry requirements apply - you can find out more in the Foreign Office's UAE travel advice.

Of course Dubai has long been a hit for winter sun holidays thanks to its hot and sunny weather (it's also one of our top picks of the best holiday destinations for March ).

Dubai isn't the only destination to be easing its Covid test rules for holidaymakers.

Greece, Portugal and France all announced in recent weeks that vaccinated Brits no longer require pre-travel PCR tests if they want to visit, while Canada has eased testing rules to allow travellers to opt for antigen tests instead.

Iceland took things one step further when it scrapped all its Covid entry rules, making it one of three countries without any Covid travel rules for Brits.

Travel rules can changed quickly during the pandemic so always check the Foreign Office advice for your chosen destination before booking or planning a trip abroad.
