Latest Carabao Cup odds as Newcastle named third favourites after Leicester draw

Newcastle United will have to find a way past Leicester City to reach their first League Cup semi-final since 1976. Eddie Howe's side will host the Foxes in a re-run of the second-round tie in 2019, where the visitors prevailed in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw.

It means the Magpies will play on home soil for the third consecutive round, having knocked out Bournemouth and Crystal Palace after a hard-fought win at Tranmere Rovers. Newcastle avoided heavyweight ties with Manchester City and Manchester United who were drawn against Charlton Athletic and Southampton respectively.

The date for Newcastle's second encounter with Leicester in the space of three weeks has not yet been set, but will follow the televised FA Cup third-round tie at Sheffield United on January 7. It is a draw which has seen the bookmakers name the Magpies as the third favourites for the Carabao Cup with what would be their first domestic success since 1955.

According to SkyBet, reigning Premier League champions City are unsurprisingly listed as the favourites. The Red Devils are also deemed more likely winners than Newcastle, with Charlton unsurprisingly ranked as the long shot with a visit to Old Trafford to come.

Here is a look at the bookmaker's odds for the Carabao Cup winner following Thursday night's draw:

Manchester City - 5/6

Manchester United - 5/2

Newcastle United - 9/2

Leicester City - 16/1

Nottingham Forest - 20/1

Wolves - 25/1

Southampton - 33/1

Charlton Athletic - 200/1
