The school summer holidays are on their way, bringing with them the busiest time of the year for airports.
As families look to get away, it is worth bearing in mind when to arrive at the airport - especially as they become even busier. Regardless, the aviation industry has not had a smooth ride in recent months - with reports of disruption and long queues.
Manchester Airport has been hit particularly hard. Many passengers have complained of serious difficulties at the airport, as the spike in demand for travel has coincided with staffing shortages.

On the other hand, Liverpool John Lennon Airport has got away relatively unscathed from travel chaos - with many passengers praising the Speke-based airport for the ease of experience.
With the summer holidays about to start, here is the latest advice from Liverpool and Manchester airports on when you should arrive.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Liverpool Airport has had a much easier time than many other airports recently. Many passengers take to social media to state the speed and ease with which they can get through security.
The airport often mentions on Twitter that the majority of passengers only have to queue for between 15 and 20 minutes to get through the gates and into the departure lounge.
Last month, the airport tweeted: "While we are aware of ongoing media coverage elsewhere, we want to reassure our passengers that we continue to see 15-20 mins queues through security throughout the day and are, therefore, asking passengers to arrive no more than 2.5 hours prior to their flight departure time."
On its website, Liverpool John Lennon Airport recommends that passengers arrive a minimum of two hours before departure. The airport states that this is: "to allow sufficient time to check-in, pass through airport security and to take advantage of the many new passenger facilities now available in the departure lounge."
Manchester Airport
The picture is not so simple up the M62. Manchester Airport's struggles in recent months have been well-publicised.
Passengers have been met with long queues to get through security, cancelled flights and plenty of disruption as the airport has been affected by a spike in demand for international travel - following the last two years of covid-related travel restrictions - and staffing shortages.
Chaotic scenes at the airport have included queues so long that they have run into car parks, luggage abandoned on the runway and flights being cancelled at late notice.
The airport's website advises passengers to be ready to go through security at least two hours before departure. This means that those who need to check in at the desk or drop hold luggage should give themselves more time, so that they can be ready for security with two hours to spare.
On July 6, the airport stated on Twitter: "Allow plenty of time by arriving at the earliest time your airline recommends. This is usually three hours before your flight. Passengers who arrive too early may be asked to wait away from the check-in area until it opens."
