Late goal propels rested Knights past Panthers

LAS VEGAS — Left wing William Carrier scored a go-ahead goal with 2:36 left in the third period, and the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Florida Panthers 4-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.

The Knights, coming off a four-day break, came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to win. Right wings Nick Cousins and Sam Reinhart scored for the Panthers. Florida also had a goal by left wing Anton Lundell taken off the board in the second period after coach Bruce Cassidy successfully challenged that the play was offside.

Centers Nicolas Roy, Jack Eichel and William Karlsson scored for the Knights in addition to Carrier.

Captain Mark Stone left the game in the first period with an upper-body injury and didn’t return.
